AUSTRIAN WINES
The Austrian wine scene is known worldwide as a synonym for quality, tradition, and innovation. Despite the great diversity of Austrian wines, wineries produce wines that are unique and full of identity—from light wines with lower alcohol content to rich and powerful late-harvest wines.
The Wachau region is protected by UNESCO as an important natural heritage site and an area of exceptional beauty, located in the Danube valley between the towns of Melk and Krems. The dominant grape varieties on approximately 1,350 hectares of vineyards are Grüner Veltliner and Riesling. The best vineyards from this region produce some of the world’s finest white wines with excellent aging potential.
