TAIWANESE WHISKY
The global whisky market has increasingly been shaped by whisky producers from Asia, coming from three countries – Taiwan, Japan, and India. Taiwan ranks as the third-largest single malt whisky market in the world and is considered almost the only sophisticated market where single malt consumption exceeds that of blended whiskies. Since 2002, following market liberalization, Taiwan has started producing its own whisky at the “Kavalan” distillery.
What sets Taiwanese whiskies apart from Scotch and Irish whiskies is their subtropical climate, which accelerates the maturation process, allowing Taiwanese whiskies to age three to four times faster.
