RUM
Rum is certainly one of the most popular alcoholic beverages, produced from sugarcane (molasses and sugarcane juice) and originating predominantly from the Caribbean, as well as several South American countries. Its taste, color, and aroma depend on the length of aging in oak barrels – the longer the rum stays in the barrel, the darker its color will be. There are several basic types of rum:
- Light or white rum – most commonly used for preparing cocktails
- Gold rum – aged for a minimum of 6 months, which gives it a distinctive amber color and a much richer and sweeter taste
- Dark rum – aged the longest in barrels, at least 3 years, and usually between 5 and 7 years, which gives it the darkest color and a bold flavor
- Spiced rum – an increasingly popular category worldwide, which must contain at least 37.5% alcohol to be called “spiced rum,” typically gold or dark in color, with added spices that set it apart from other rums (cinnamon, vanilla, cloves, caramel...)
Rums can often be aged much longer – more than 7 years, which contributes to an increasingly diverse selection of higher-quality rums available around the world.
We have selected a wide range of rums that will surely satisfy and suit your taste, including top global brands such as Diplomatico from Venezuela and Plantation rums, which are unique due to their double aging process.
